THE BLUE BOAR ABRIDGE LONDON FREE
Tea and coffee making facilities, free wifi connection and flat screen tv. All rooms come with king size beds as standard and are finished with contemporary, bespoke details. The Blue Boar is a chic, boutique style establishment offering six individually designed deluxe double, en-suite rooms. Re-opened March 2014 after an extensive refurbishment bringing an already beautiful venue in line with our other venues in the group and creating an open and more inviting space, with a stylish and trendy ambience combined with a welcoming atmosphere. Located in the Roding Valley between the market towns of Epping and Loughton and with easy access to the M11 and M25, Abridge is only 20 minutes approx drive from Canary Wharf and 45 minutes to the West End by tube. So yes I would recommend booking a table and I'll hopefully look to return when like everywhere else the restaurant is fully open. The Blue Boar is an established beautiful Boutique Hotel nestled in the village of Abridge, Essex. Just a shame about the beginning but definitely the rest of the young team and the food more than made up for it. This brought to and end a fabulous lunch where the food and service was excellent. Desserts We then finished with some good old fashioned pub desserts of Homemade Jam Roly Poly, Sticky Toffee Pudding & Chef's Banoffee Mess and to say the were all fantastic would be an understatement. All the time being asked by the staff if everything was ok and if we did need anything to just ask. The mains were a generous size and once again the food nicely cooked so no complaints here from anyone.
THE BLUE BOAR ABRIDGE LONDON PLUS
Mains Now onto our mains where we chose the Blue Boar Cheeseburger, Fish & Chips, Slow Cooked Jack Daniels Pork Ribs & Cajun Chicken Burger plus a side order of onion rings. We all thought the starters were perfectly cooked, nicely presented and tasted delicious. Starters We chose the Chicken Liver Pate, Prawn & smashed Avocado Cocktail, Smoked Mackerel Pate & Sticky Chicken on Asian Slaw. We started with a nice bottle of french rose wine and then placed our orders. So once we were comfortable we looked at the very extensive menu that had a large selection of starters, mains & desserts. I am happy to say that this was the only downside to the day as the rest of the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and polite along with enjoying some delightful pub grub. We said thank you that's perfect and headed into the dining area. We then approached someone who looked like he was in charge of reservations and once he'd looked at the bookings offered us a table that had to be returned by 3 pm. Also at this time which was 12.30 pm the dining area was empty. We took our seats but felt we wouldn't be able to enjoy our lunch sitting here. When we questioned this we were told in an abrupt manner that they were fully booked and this was our table. Our name was taken and we was pointed to a rickety park bench table outside of the dining area. As we approached I was asked if I'd reserved a table and with this he alerted a lady who I presumed was the manager. Once we'd arrived and parked the car we headed towards the outside dining marquee. I say this because our welcome was not that great. This turned out to be a lovely lunch with my in laws.
